Biometrics by Fingerprints in physical access card by Ambimat Electronics
Ambimat Electronics, an Indian ODM and OEM for IoT based solutions, has launched a biometric access card for the Indian market: the AmbiSecure Biocard. It provides an innovative solution by integrating a fingerprint sensor, the FPC1323 by Fingerprints, into a smart card.
The AmbiSecure division of Ambimat has built significant IP in the multi-factor authentication (MFA) space with applets like FIDO, PIV, OpenPGP etc. The AmbiSecure BioCard makes identification, authentication and even payment validation more convenient and secure by taking advantage of the ‘who you are’ factor of the multi-factor authentication mechanisms instead of entering a card PIN.
“Ambimat has been working with Fingerprint Cards AB for almost a decade and we have always been confident of the quality of their sensors. Their personalised support in getting our products to the market is always an added advantage” says Durgesh Shah, CEO & Founder, Ambimat Electronics.
Michel Roig, President of Payment and Access at Fingerprints, added: “Moving into passwordless authentication to control access provides additional, robust protection that today´s businesses now require. We see an increased demand for secure authentication solutions, and by collaborating with Ambimat Electronics, our biometric solution is now taking off for the Indian market.”
