Fujitsu launches four smartphones and two tablet PCs with FPC embedded fingerprint technology for the Japanese market

Fujitsu has announced six new mobile devices with several operators in Japan, using embedded swipe sensor technology from Fingerprint Cards (“FPC”). The announcement relates to four Android smartphones and two Android tablet PCs. The products will start to sell in operator stores in Japan during the fourth quarter of 2013. This is FPC’s first launch for a tablet PC to date.

New phablets using FPC fingerprint technology launched by Pantech in Korea

During October and November, the Pantech Android phablet models IM-A890S, IM-A890K and IM-A890L, marketed as Vega Secret Note, will start to sell in operator stores all over Korea. The IM-A890S is already available in stores. These phones follow the successful launch of the popular finger-sensor-enabled smartphone Pantech Vega LTE-A, launched in August this year. The three phones constitute Fingerprint Cards’ (FPC’s) first launch in phablet products.

UINT & Mereal Biometrics launches biometric smart card with embedded FPC fingerprint touch sensor and processor

The biometric smart card launched by UINT & Mereal Biometrics is a multi-application smart card using Fingerprint Cards’ (FPC) embedded fingerprint touch sensor and processor. It enables biometric fingerprint authentication in a top secure environment with local matching providing privacy of holders as biometric data never leave the card. First applications of the card are physical and logical access control for French Casino Operator Partouche. The smart card is now finalist in the award Discovery category at the upcoming show Cartes in Paris (19-21 Nov, 2013) and will be displayed by Mereal Biometrics in Booth 4 N 087 (

FPC recruits Asia Customer Support Director

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has appointed Ted Hansson as Asia Customer Support Director. Ted brings more than 10 years of hands-on experience in building and managing technical support teams in Asia. His longstanding experience of working with Tier 1 mobile phone customers in South Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan will help to accelerate FPC’s Design Wins into projects, orders and sales. His unique understanding of the Asian consumer electronics industry and marketing experience will also be valuable for the accelerated expansion of FPC’s customer base in the Asian region.

Ted Hansson joins FPC from Samsung Semiconductor where he held the position of Connectivity Marketing Director Asia, based in Shanghai, China. Prior to Samsung, he was responsible for setting up the Nanoradio AB activities in China as well as founding and managing ST-Ericsson/Ericsson customer support teams in Korea and Taiwan.
