Fingerprints touch sensor in contactless payment card pilot
Fingerprints is providing touch sensor from its FPC1300-series to the world’s first battery-less dual interface EMV payment card used in the recently announced market pilot with Bank of Cyprus, card technology provided by Zwipe.
With an annual market of 4 billion smartcards, with a majority being payment cards of which 50% are contactless, the benefit of biometrics is enormous in terms of increasing security without compromising speed and ease of use for consumers. The interest from banks for introducing biometrics on card is high, and there are multiple market pilots planned in the world throughout this year as the eco-system is preparing for commercial volume launches.
