Fingerprint sensor from Fingerprint Cards AB (publ) included in Samsung Galaxy A10s
In a press release dated August 13, 2019, Fingerprint Cards AB (Fingerprints™) commented on Samsung as a potential new smartphone OEM customer.
Today, Fingerprints confirmed that the company’s sensor FPC1511 is used in a smartphone model from Samsung, the Galaxy A10s, which was launched in August 2019. Fingerprints has already received purchase orders amounting to in excess of ten million sensors.
FPC1511 is the fourth-generation capacitive fingerprint sensor from Fingerprints. It is smaller and thus more cost effective relative to the previous generations of sensors, while offering excellent biometric performance.
“We are proud of the fact that our technology is included in this smartphone. Fingerprints has earlier delivered sensors for a Samsung notebook, but this is the first time that our products are used in a Samsung smartphone”, commented Christian Fredrikson, Fingerprints’ President and CEO.
Fingerprints is also working on an additional production project that will likely lead to Fingerprints’ technology being included in a forthcoming smartphone model from Samsung.
